At the age of 13 Francisco Faiges Ribas began to work in contact with the world of oil. After a lifetime dedicated to the agri-food sector, he is now over 75 years old and continues to spend every day at the company's headquarters in Tortosa. Born entrepreneur, based from the outset the company's growth in two concepts: the value of family tradition and constant reinvestment to increase the size of the group.

Year 1962

Francisco Faiges founded with his wife, Rita Borrás, the company Aceites Faiges, focusing its activity on the commercialization of olive oil and with the aim of promoting industrial growth.

Thus, in a first stage, the strategy of Francisco Faiges to gain dimension was focused on the acquisition of companies. In this way, in 1970 I bought Fernando Autran (Barcelona, 1860) and Aceites BAU (Tortosa, 1842).

The origins go back to 1842

The purchase of these two firms contributed the centennial flavor to the business group. Indeed, we have to go back to 1842 to find Jose Bau, founder of the house of the same name, in Tortosa (current headquarters of FFaiges). Known in the South American export markets as 'the king of oil', José Bau was one of the first to detect the importance of international marketing, also in northern Europe.

The plan Of acquisitions of Faiges continued with the integration of Oils Masip (Zaragoza) and Orujeras Reunidas of the Lower Ebro (Orbesa), also of centenary roots founded in Tortosa, dedicated to the extraction of oils of pomace and seeds. With the purchase of more than 20 companies, the Abaco Oil Absorption, made in 1980, became one of the busiest operations of the era.

The most relevant was the market view of Francisco Faiges, who always added value to the group. Abaco was the first company in the Spanish sector to buy branded oil.

The acquisition of Abaco coincided with the entry of the second generation of the company into the family business, Which was produced progressively during the 1980s.

The next step in history was the founding of Industrializadora and Distribuidora Española de Alimentos (Ideal), with the aim of becoming An international company. Faiges allied with the multinational Bunge to gain growth potential. It ended up repurchasing the 60% of its partner in the capital of Ideal, and maintained its activity of production, packaging and commercialization of oils under the Abaco, Bau and Autran brands. In 2002, Ideal becomes the first export company around the world.

Year 2007

It fulfills this desire so sought after with the creation of Oleo Daimiel, in the province of Ciudad Real (Castilla-La Mancha).

Thus, the company added to the Tortosa factory greater efficiency and production flexibility with the packaging plant and the three refineries of the 30,000 square meters of the new industrial complex, with the most advanced technology. The investment in Daimiel reached 30 million euros.

Year 2010

Between the construction of the two new factories, in 2010, the group decided to merge all its companies under the name of F.Faiges SL.
